Aminpro investigated the potential of upgrading Coemin’s concentrate grade through regrinding and column flotation with laboratory testwork in Chile. The results indicate that concentrate grades can be increased from 5% without regrinding to 8% with regrinding. In view of this Coemin, who are in an expansion mode requested Aminpro to put in place a program to design, fabricate, install and commission a 2.4m diameter x 11m tall column unit at their facilities. The project took 10 months to implement. This marks the first project of this kind done in Aminpro Chile. Through Aminpro Canada, over 150 columns have been installed world-wide. The Aminpro Chile team of Roger Amelunxen, director of Aminpro, Alex Carvajal, general manager and David Barriga, senior project engineer headed the activities through a local contractor, Salas Ingenieros.
Recent contact with Coemin, indicate that they are satisfied with a 6% increase in grade of concentrate.
